Description

A silver metal and epoxied irregular shaped device 1 1/4 inch (3.18cm)in height, a white diamond overlapped by two green serpents entwined between amaroon cross, each point ending in a fleur-de-lis, supporting at the top a silver stylized dogwood tree, garnished with five yellow flowers and silver leaves. Attached below the device a silver scroll inscribed CARE WITH PRIDE in Maroon.



Symbolism

Maroon and white (silver) are the traditional colors of the Army Medical Department. The cross with the entwined serpents suggests the Caduceus, a symbol of healing. It further alludes to the units mission in medical care, aid and health. The flowering dogwood signifies the state of Missouri, where Fort Leonard Wood resides. The tree is a well-known symbol of life, growth, stability and resilience.
